One of the required topside modifications on ULA is to install a High Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS) upstream of the new Oselvar separator. The key issue in such a design is to define the Equipment Under Control (EUC), which in this case would be the process piping, separator and related equipment downstream of the HIPPS-valves.
Together with Aker Solutions, Lexar is deeply involved in the HIPPS-design and the technical part of the procurement package. The solution is based on Norsok P-001, chapter 5, Safety Instrumented Secondary Pressure Protection System, where the primary function is to protect the flare system from overpressure and to reduce the relief design rate (of the new Oselvar separator).
The scope of supply consists of quick-closing final elements, pressure transmitters in a voting-configuration and a logic solver cabinet. In addition choke valves are purchased, along with an ESD-valve, as part of the total package
